The WSC found me through one of its board members – Dr. Nate Mantua. He and I have been good friends for over 10 years now and have done lots of local and international fishing adventures. He was with me on my first day using flies for steelies and helped dig/pull/cut out an egg sucking leech fly from the middle of my back between my shoulders. What are friends for right? Had he not saved me I could have died that day on that river. He told me purple egg sucking leech flies are merely a dormant lethal larvae and once that thing woke up it would have been curtains for me, therefore I was indebted to him from that day forth for saving my life.
When he called me up and said the WSC needed help it was an easy answer, I already was a member in good standing by Nate’s persistent threats, always made my company match the membership. I liked the stickers and Rich said I could have a hat and no pay if I updated the WSC site.
Not only does my company (Microsoft Corp.) match my membership fees and donations to the WSC but they also PAY the WSC $17 and hour for the work I do as a sort of match for my time spent working with this worthy non-profit. Also I would like to add that a friend that I have at Adobe donated the Dreamweaver 8 suite that I used to develop the site and its pages.
My personal goal is to have finished a full redesign of the site by the end of 2007. My goals are to make it clean, consistent throughout, easy to navigate and update, compliant with current and future web standards. The site will be changing from a .com suffix to a .org suffix. If you have any ANY recommendations or ideas for content or the site in general please feel free to send them along to webadmin@wildsteelheadcoalition.org.
The reason I am a member of the WSC so my children have a chance to hook a nice big wild steelie. I also would like to land one someday.
